Cremation Only Funeral UK

Cremation Only Funeral UK

Cremation only funeral in the UK
Dealing with the death of a loved one is undoubtedly one of the most challenging and emotionally charged processes we encounter in life. Combined with so many options including cremation only funerals and standard funeral services, it can be difficult when deciding which option best suits you and your family. As experienced funeral directors ourselves also specialising in cremation only funerals, we have put together some information on cremation only funerals which we hope you will find helpful.

What is a cremation only funeral?
Surprisingly, a cremation only funeral is exactly what it says on the tin. It’s a cremation only, also known as a direct cremation – without all the bells and whistles often associated with more traditional funeral services. As time evolves and technology develops and gives us more ways to carry on a loved ones memory such as Ashes into Glass, many families are opting for this more simple approach.

How does a cremation only funeral work?
A cremation only funeral works in a similar way to a traditional funeral service, the only difference being is there’s no service on the day! When your loved one passes, they will be collected by a private ambulance team and taken into the care of a funeral home. After this has taken place, the legal and compliance stage will commence such as speaking with the police coroners office, medical referees and so on.

Once the legal and compliance stage has been finalised your loved one will be placed into a simple coffin, and transported to a crematorium (usually in a private ambulance) of the funeral directors choice at a date and time chosen by the funeral director. All clients are transported and enter the crematorium with the utmost respect and in a manner usually associated with a more traditional funeral service.

Once the cremation has taken place, your loved ones ashes will be ready for collection – usually within 14 days.

How much does a cremation only funeral cost?
Most cremation only companies in the UK charge between £1,400 – £1,800. This usually includes all of the disbursements and other associated costs. We charge £1,195 including all disbursements and we cover the whole of the UK for this service. Click here to find out more.
